What's new in Smart Alarm
Every version, newest first — from the release notes of Versions: 8.
Version 1.1.0
- Cloud is off in this version: alarms, history and photos stay on your phone.
- Version 1.1.0. It includes everything added since 1.0: the photo diary, settings transfer, the Apple Watch app and morning music.
Version 1.0.0
- Imported alarms are added disabled; existing schedules remain. Camera permissions, photo-diary consent and exchange settings are not imported and must be checked on the device. Enroll NFC tags again.
- Settings now includes Settings transfer: export a diagnostic JSON file and import with confirmation. Photos, personal diary, alarm names and coordinates are excluded; alarm times and time zone are included.
- Fixed a missed photo-diary start when an alarm task opened before unlocking: the first capture starts when the task becomes visible, including Mental math.
- Preparing cross-app exchange is a separate switch, off by default. Events remain local: PsyGames, Chess & Go, TypeRIGHTing and a shared account are not connected yet. Photos and personal notes are not transferred.
- Expand Watch and apps in Settings and enable Apple Watch. Session results are saved on Watch and received on iPhone without duplicates after reconnection. The primary alarm remains on iPhone; Watch does not stop or snooze it yet.
- Added an Apple Watch companion: the next alarm time, breathing with a smooth circle, and a short left / right / do not tap game.
- Built-in melodies start softly and rise over about 15 seconds. Re-save existing alarms to apply this setting. The system backup sound is unchanged; on iPhone the fade-in repeats when the sound file repeats.
- Settings are organized into nine collapsed sections. Sound, next to vibration, now includes a melody volume slider from 20 to 100%.
- Tap a diary photo to open it fullscreen, with pinch zoom, pan and reset zoom.
- The camera has more time to start; a temporary diary initialization error no longer disables later sessions. The diary explains missing-photo reasons. Camera failure never blocks completing a task or stopping the alarm.
- This extra photo is labeled During the task. It does not mark completion or replace the after-session photo. Releasing the finger or backgrounding cancels the current capture attempt.
- Photo diary has a separate Rainbow: photo on number 9 switch. While correctly holding 9, the white screen temporarily brightens for capture. Off by default; requires camera/storage consent and opt-in for the individual alarm.
- The fullscreen switch is available for every practice, not only eyes. Phase guidance and circular indicators stay visible; pause and help remain accessible at the bottom.
- Fixed a build 49 regression: combinations show the breathing shape, pelvic-floor exercise and eye exercises together again. Fullscreen no longer hides selected practices.
- Photo settings no longer expand the bottom bar. Diary photos are shown fully without unnecessary cropping or repeated flicker; camera use remains optional.
- Fast phases use a brief gentle haptic cue. Combo illustrations no longer change on their own or get covered by a breathing orb; face massage guidance has been updated.
- Eye exercises use the full available screen. Two dots move horizontally, vertically, diagonally and in a circle; the selected mode is saved for future voluntary sessions.
- Updated practice layout: two circular indicators with full labels, contrasting breathing outlines and more room for exercises. Removed the duplicate breathing timer.
- Camera refusal or failure never blocks exercises or alarm stopping. Skipped sessions are not marked completed; private photo screens are excluded from automatic feedback screenshots.
- Photos stay on this device without cloud backup. View photos, self-rated alertness and deletion controls in Journal. You can keep session facts without taking photos.
- Optional before/after photo diary for practices and wake tasks. Set up the camera in Settings → Photo diary, then opt into sessions and individual alarms. Off by default.
- Existing sounds and settings do not change automatically. iPhone backup alerts keep the system sound.
- Three new morning alarm sounds: Dawn, Awakening and Movement. Choose one when editing an alarm.
- Warm-up actions and selected practices share one row. Feedback and diary controls remain accessible above the keyboard.
- Holding Schulte numbers now colors the entire screen, not just the button. The challenge heading is more compact.
- Three explicit wake presets: Gentle, Focused and Get up. You can still adjust the challenge manually.
- Choose each alarm’s sound: system default or eight bundled sounds including singing bowls, soft relax, rain and ocean waves. Soft sounds may not wake you; iPhone backup alerts keep the system sound.
- Alarm sound is silenced while completing a wake task; backup alerts remain armed if the app closes.
- Random wake tasks use your selected pool: Schulte, arithmetic, reaction or hold-to-complete Schulte.
- New hold-to-complete Schulte mode: hold numbers 1 through 9 for the corresponding seconds, with rainbow, black and white completion colors.
- Alarm cards take less space. The schedule switch sits beside the time; settings and warnings remain available.
- The practice builder has a shorter heading without repeated titles; catalog counts remain available.
- Practice help, tutorial and start controls now share one compact row.
- Each new alarm starts at the current time plus two minutes. Existing alarm times remain unchanged.
- Stopping, snoozing or backgrounding the app turns off the light border and restores the previous brightness.
- Wake-up tasks now use a dark screen regardless of the app theme. Light borders turn on automatically while the alarm rings; you can disable them for each alarm.
- The practice screen makes the current mode and simultaneous exercises clearer. Illustrations, instructions, music, haptics and controls remain available.
- The practice builder shows your selected exercises, total duration and start control. Extra settings expand separately; all modes and programs remain available.
- The next alarm and a large morning-start button now appear before habits and the day journal. Expand those cards when you need them.
- Fixed opening wake-up tasks, stopping alarms and snoozing on iPhone. Snoozing preserves errors and the snooze limit without replacing the main alarm schedule.
- Numbers in the wake-up grid are no longer clipped on smaller screens.
- Fixed wake-up tasks reopening after stopping an alarm or reaching the error limit.
- The Bedtime screen notices right away when you stop the sound from the notification.
- Practices now has Help and Tutorial at the bottom: five short cards and a one-minute live trial.
- “Add alarm” now stays at the bottom of the Alarms tab.
- Kegel with breathing: the squeeze again lasts through the exhale and the hold after it — equal hold and rest.
- “Done” and “Good night” stay at the bottom of the screen; both buttons after the warm-up are equal.
- Haptic taps in wake-up tasks, check-ins and routines, and a distinct pulse when an exercise is done.
- Light: the screen edges glow while the middle stays dark — soft light for selfies and video calls. Sun icon at the top.
- Music during exercises: tap the note on the practice screen; your choice is remembered.
- Eight sleep sounds: pink noise, rain, ocean waves, soft relax and singing bowls are new.
- The app now follows your phone's language until you pick another one.
- Smart Alarm 1.0 — the first App Store release. Same features as 0.4.6.
Version 0.4.6
- The app is almost 9 MB lighter: practice figures now use a compact format.
- Practices use the same scene as PsyGames: the picture sits inside the phase frame, and guide lines stay readable on the body.
Version 0.4.5
- A pause after the exhale no longer asks for a Kegel squeeze.
- Breathing combined with a body exercise: a breathing ball grows on the inhale and shrinks on the exhale; the Kegel ring is solid while you squeeze and dashed while you relax.
- Practices now show the full instruction and a two-line step title, so nothing important is cut off.
- After an update, see changes from every missed build. Release history is available in Settings.
Version 0.4.4
- New sunrise alarm app icon.
Version 0.4.3
- Larger current-action and remaining-time displays in practices. Added abdominal-breathing haptics.
- Improved parallel practices and haptic diagnostics.
- Improved Lock Screen to wake-task flow and Kegel haptics.
- Voice tasks offer an alternative when recognition does not work.
- Stronger haptic guidance on iPhone.
- Quiet bedtime reminders on iOS.
- Bedtime mode follows the actual schedule.
- Updated scheduling for previously created iOS alarms.
- Bottom navigation labels fit on one line.
- Improved Russian program and voice-task wording.
- Voice notes for the day journal and bedtime improvements.
Version 0.4.2
- NFC wake task support on iPhone.
Version 0.4.1
- Practice haptics and updated exercise illustrations.
